Winnipeg Jets lose both games in Pennsylvania with Flyers taking it 4-1 and slide hits 5 games

Jets limited to one goal during this two-game road trip in Pennsylvania as they lose 4-1 to Flyers after losing 3-0 to Penguins on Tuesday. Fifth straight loss by Winnipeg (0-4-1). They fall to 30-14-5 on the season.

Notable:

Just 3:37 into the opening period the Jets made a few defensive miscues which led to Ryan Poehling passing across to Tyson Foerster who could have been but wasn’t tied up by Gabriel Vilardi who probably could have prevented the goal against.

It went from bad to worse as they just couldn’t generate anything which 11 minutes later saw the home town Flyers add to their lead when Travis Konecny scored off Neal Pionk.

Expecting push back did not happen as Winnipeg didn’t generate a single shot after going down a pair which hurt them as four minutes later they found themselves down 3-0 when a lucky bounce ended up going off Nate Schmidt to Morgan Frost who buried it into the back of the net to make it 3-0.

Jets added two shots in the final seconds of the opening period but were being outshot 13-3 before they concluded 20 minutes down 13-5 but more importantly down 3-0 on the scoreboard.

Winnipeg looked like they had finally woken up early in the 2nd period which resulted in a Nino Niederreiter chance and then shortly thereafter a power play opportunity for the visitors. But not only are they not scoring on their man advantages but instead they gave up a shorthanded goal Ryan Poehling.

That was the only shot that the Flyers got halfway through the middle frame as Jets held a 7-1 edge but the score remained 4-0 for the home team.

Jets outshot the Flyers 15-3 in the middle frame but it matters not when it was Philly who got the only goal of 2nd period (shorthanded mind you).

The most notable thing in the middle frame was Jets fan Scott Duarte sitting behind the bench in Philly who is kinda dead ringer for Adrian Pimento from Brooklyn 99.

Jets have one goal in their last 30 power plays……. That is not good says Captain Obvious.

Kyle Connor scored a goal with 5:12 left in the 3rd. It was his 19th of the season with assists from Mark Scheifele and Josh Morrissey who both pick up their 28th assists of the season.
