Winnipeg Jets loan prospect Danny Zhilkin to the Moose

It has been a busy day in Jetsland. We watched the first group skate this morning (which featured some new look lines) and thereafter learned that Dylan Samberg is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist while Connor Hellebuyck left the skate early as he “wasn’t feeling quite right”.

Subsequently we learned that Winnipeg had placed Mason Shaw and Phil Di Giuseppe on waivers for purposes of assignment to the Moose which got the training camp roster down to 43 players.

The team put out a press release indicating both players had been placed on waivers and they also included the news that prospect Danny Zhilkin (2022 3rd) had been loaned to the Moose who began their training camp today.

The Ontario product has had a solid camp starting with a very good showing at the Prospect Showdown in Montreal as well as his play in pre-season games. However, the Jets are pretty veteran laden so this isn’t a big surprise.

But he should be heading to the AHL with a lot of confidence.
