The NHL announced today that Kyle Connor would be a finalist along with Jaccob Slavin of the Carolina Hurricanes and Jared Spurgeon of the Minnesota Wild for the Lady Byng Award. It is given to a “player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability”.
As per NHL Public Relations:
Kyle Connor, a first-time finalist, is the first Lady Byng Trophy finalist in @NHLJets / Atlanta Thrashers franchise history and is seeking to become the first Winnipeg player (from the current or original Jets) to capture the award. #NHLAwards
Given how much he plays and how big a contribution he makes on the ice and with how few penalties (four minutes) he’s taken this season he should stand a good chance to become the first ever winner from this franchise of that award.
