Back on December 10th in a game against the Ducks the Jets lost winger Kyle Connor to a knee injury after a hit by Ryan Strome of Anaheim. It was reported shortly thereafter by Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press that it was expected the top scorer for Winnipeg would be out 6-8 weeks which was later confirmed by Sara Orlesky of the Jets on December 13th.
Many were projecting Connor’s return for early February.
It was very disappointing considering he has 17 goals in 26 games and was on pace for his first ever 50 goal season.
This morning at Canada Life he was seen skating by John Lu of TSN in a yellow, non-contact jersey.
While that may not change his timeline it is likely good news that he is back on the ice less than three weeks after sustaining the injury.
Update:
John thereafter tweeted these comments from Jets head coach Rick Bowness:
Rick Bowness said Kyle Connor has skated solo for a couple of days & estimates he is right on schedule in his 6-8 week recovery. Bowness added that Connor is skating with a knee brace and will be on the ice again Sunday before being reevaluated on Monday.
