Following today’s morning skate Jets bench boss Paul Maurice was asked for an injury update on a pair of forwards:
Mason Appleton has been out since he broke a bone in his foot ahead of the Heritage Classic back on October 25th and at the time the Jets bench boss indicated it should be a month before anyone asks about his status. Today Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun noted that Appleton skated before the Jets took to the ice and so he asked Maurice as it has been a month about the status of the third year pro
“I’m thinking probably two more weeks before we look at him getting contact.”
Scott followed up his question about Appleton with a status check on veteran winger Gabriel Bourque who didn’t finish the game against the Devils on November 5th and was ruled out by Maurice for “a minimum of four weeks”.
“Be about the same. I think they’re in about the same window.”
So the Jets lineup will not be bolstered by either of these two for awhile.

I also appear on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show every Saturday on TSN 1290 Winnipeg starting at 9 am.
And I occasionally jump in the play-by-play booth at Bell MTS Place to provide colour analysis during Manitoba Moose games.
