With yesterday being a game day sometimes news gets overshadowed. Coach Maurice during his availability following the Jets optional morning skate on Saturday provided health updates on three of his injured players being Laurent Brossoit, Dustin Byfuglien & Josh Morrissey.
Regarding Laurent Brossoit he indicated “So better news off a test yesterday (Friday), we’ll just list him as day-to-day and hope it’s not too long.”.
With respect to Dustin Byfuglien and Josh Morrissey he said “Both skated today (Saturday). Buff’s been on the ice since Wednesday. The way this works now is he skates, if he feels real good the next day, he’ll start thinking about morning skates going forward and start building toward contact. Josh is still aways from that, that contact part of it, but he’s back full on skating now. Josh is upper-body he won’t come off the ice now, he’ll be back as a full skater, we’ll get him in a gold here in the near future.” Asked which is closer to return coach Maurice added it is Byfuglien. The bench boss was asked if he thinks Morrissey might not get a regular season game in and he didn’t directly answer the question simply indicating that they weren’t going to push it.
Update: Coach Maurice provided a further update on these three after morning skate on Monday, March 25th.
