What a shift in under 12 hours on Thursday from optimism to pessimism when it comes to Ville Heinola.
At just before 11 AM following morning skate Jets head coach Rick Bowness said
“He’s done everything he can to make this hockey club….”.
Less than 12 hours later following the game against the Senators in Winnipeg he said
“It’s not good. It’s not going to be a short term injury.”
The bench boss was back up in front of the cameras and mics today following morning skate and was asked for an update on the status of the Finnish defenceman.
He advised that Heinola suffered a fractured ankle in the game and that the expectation is anywhere from 8-12 weeks for recovery. He said they’ll send him back home to Finland where he’ll be with family as he recovers. He did say that surgery was a possibility. Shall have to wait and see what route the player/team choose.
The Jets have placed Heinola on IR.
