Winnipeg Jets Injury Update: Blake Wheeler will be out weeks not days (tests still ongoing)

When Jets captain Blake Wheeler hit the ice in Vancouver and was writhing in pain it seemed pretty clear that he was in a lot of distress. The team was off on Saturday as they returned to Manitoba from BC and were off on Sunday making today the first time to get any news from the team.

According to Ken Wiebe of Sportsnet during his media availability head coach Paul Maurice indicated that:

“it will be weeks and not days for Blake Wheeler. Tests still ongoing.”

He added that it will take 3-4 days for the swelling to come down and then they’ll have a better idea how long it is going to be.

A tough break for the Jets captain who had been heating up the last little while with one goal and 11 assists in seven games.
