The Winnipeg Jets would like to announce the hiring of Dr. Craig Slaunwhite as Director of Fitness.
Slaunwhite has spent the previous five seasons as the Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Florida Panthers. Along with a focus on player training, he also provided chiropractic and nutritional services to the Panthers. Prior to joining Florida in 2009, Slaunwhite worked as a personal trainer based in Toronto, ON, working with elite athletes in various sports in international and professional competition. He also served as the on-field medical trainer for the Ontario Soccer Association.
Slaunwhite holds a Doctorate of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University in 2003.
Slaunwhite, a native of Halifax, NS, is an accomplished athlete who served as captain of both basketball and track & field teams while attending Dalhousie University. He set several school and provincial records in Nova Scotia while attending Dalhousie, including records in pentathlon, pole vault, shot-put, discus, and decathlon. He earned All-Canadian honours in track and field during that time for his achievements. Following his collegiate career, Slaunwhite went on to compete on the Canadian Track & Field Team competing in events hosted in Africa, Europe, and South America. His accomplishments during that time include a bronze medal in decathlon at the 2008 Canadian Olympic trials.
