The Jets made 4th line centre David Gustafsson a late scratch against the Blackhawks on Wednesday night as he was dealing with a lower-body injury and he wasn’t ready to play in that game. He didn’t take part in practice today but Ville Heinola and Rasmus Kupari were there in non-contact uniforms as per reports from Canada Life.
Rick Bowness was asked for updates on this trio and this is what he had to say:
On Gustafsson:
“We don’t expect him to play this weekend.”
Asked if there was a setback
“No. He skated today earlier and he said it’s feeling a little bit better but it’s not to the point where we’re comfortable letting him play.”
On Heinola/Kupari:
“Again Ville is further away than Rasmus. We’re hoping Rasmus will at some point in the next road trip will play but if you look at our schedule now, talked to the guys today, we’re not practicing now probably til’ January 10th with the travel and the games. So that was our last practice other than the morning skates, so we’re going to have to make sure we get him out there, and the guys who aren’t playing, and get him into some real battles. Right to see where he is. But I’d say Rasmus is a lot closer than Ville.”
That’s the latest on the Jets injury front.
