The Jets list of walking (or limping in some cases) wounded is relatively small but today following morning skate head coach Scott Arniel was asked for updates on Nikolaj Ehlers, Dylan Samberg and David Gustafsson.
Nikolaj Ehlers:
Back on November 29th the Jets suffered a 4-3 loss to the Golden Knights in Vegas but the bigger loss was Nikolaj Ehlers leaving the game in the 2nd period and not returning. The last three days he’s been skating on his own. Scott Arniel said he didn’t know when he would re-join the group “haven’t gotten the yellow jersey in practice thing. He might have it tomorrow but I have no idea yet.”
Dylan Samberg:
The Jets lost to the Preds back on November 23rd but the bigger news was they lost their 2nd pairing left side defender in Dylan Samberg who blocked a Steven Stamkos shot on a penalty kill. He would leave the game and we would learn he had suffered a broken foot. Scott Arniel today said he’s still using the walking boot to get around occasionally. Said he’s doing some off ice training. “He’s still in the new year. It’s still broken. We have to wait for it to heal 100% so he’s still the new year.”.
David Gustafsson:
David Gustafsson left the game on Tuesday against the Bruins after getting a punch to the face. We were told yesterday he was in concussion protocol and today Arniel said he remains there.
The big defenceman blocked a shot and will miss next few games.
