Last night the Jets rolled to a 5-2 win over the Predators which was the 300th win for Connor Hellebuyck.
The jubilation was somewhat tempered by the fact that top pairing left side defenceman Josh Morrissey left the game in the 2nd after colliding with Mark Scheifele, falling and hitting the goal post hard with his leg. He came back for one shift and then left the game for good and did not return. Here was the play:
After the game the first question to head coach Scott Arniel was about the health of 44. He didn’t have much insight simply stating that:
“Lower-body. We’ll see how he is tomorrow. Obviously couldn’t play the rest of the game there, fell into the goal post.”
Follow-up question spoke about his taking the one shift to which the bench boss replied:
“It was hurting”.
Today the Jets held an optional and following it the next update from Arniel on Morrissey was:
“Feeling better. We’ll see. Just kinda getting movement going here. He’ll get some more treatment here and see how he is tomorrow.”
Asked if he was ruled out for next game:
“Not yet. We’ll see if he can get in, get through practice tomorrow.”
He wasn’t prepared to discuss a Moose recall so that seems to indicate it isn’t as bad as it looked. Stay tuned for tomorrow.
