The Jets held an optional today as they get ready to take on the Predators tonight. One player who was skating, albeit in a non-contact yellow jersey, was injured defenceman Dylan Samberg who is working his way back from a broken foot suffered in Nashville back on November 23rd.
Watching him skate his movement seemed good so the thought was this could be seen as the next step in his progression.
But Jets bench boss poured some cold water on that sentiment when he spoke following the skate. He said:
“No he’s still every other day right now. That was just ’cause of ice availability, just being the early game today and he was told to stay away from everybody else. But he’s not there yet. He’s not yellow jersey’d to come in and practice with us.”
So the top 4 Dman will still need some time as he continues on his road of recovery. While the Jets have gone 9-6-1 during his absence the penalty kill sure could use him on it.
