We thought we might have to wait until Thursday when the Jets resumed skating to get an update on Jonathan Toews who left the game against the Wild on Tuesday in St. Paul midway through the 2nd period and did not return. After the game head coach Scott Arniel indicated Toews had tweaked something.

However, the bench boss of Winnipeg was on NHL Network Radio show The Power Play and Steve Kouleas asked him for an update on his injured players including Toews.
Arniel indicated:
“Last night with JT he just tweaked something in the game. Got it looked at today by our doctors and it’s just going to be day-to-day so that’s good news for us. He was supposed to play Friday in Calgary, last exhibition game, we’ll see. We’ll see in the next couple of days how he feels. Yeah that was more precautionary, didn’t feel quite right, so just kinda pull him out of that one.”
That’s good given the uncertainty surrounding the issue.
The date and opponent is now set.
