On Monday we saw Ville Heinola and Jaret Anderson-Dolan skating with their teammates for the first time although both were in yellow, non-contact uniforms. Heinola is recovering from ankle surgery after having to have his same ankle worked on again after he got an infection in the screw while Anderson-Dolan broke his foot during the pre-season blocking a shot.
We learned six days ago that the duo were back skating as they continue to work back towards good health. Today after morning skate head coach Scott Arniel was asked for an update on the pair:
“I mean that was first day yesterday. Those yellow shirts may be on for a while. The biggest thing is they can’t get hit with pucks, is the biggest thing. So they can do almost all the drills but once it gets into something where there’s live fire and they can get hit, especially like penalty kill, things like that, because it’s both their feet there we’ll just stay away from anything like that. They’ll get their conditioning, we’ll see how they are when we get down the road a bit.”
So it sounds like they are both a ways away.
