Winnipeg Jets head coach Scott Arniel confirms Nino Niederreiter had surgery

We already knew that veteran Jets winger Nino Niederreiter was out week-to-week but yesterday we learned that he had surgery according to head coach Scott Arniel.

It was a lower-body surgery.

It’s been a disappointing season for the Swiss winger aside from playing for his country in the Olympics. In 55 games he has eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points.  He’s on pace for 28 points this season.

Update:

Evidently there were reports that his season was done. Head coach Scott Arniel was asked for an update today at practice and said “No. I don’t think so.”. He did provide a timeline of 4-6 weeks.
