Jets defenceman Colin Miller was hit in the throat by a puck in the 1st period of the game against the Red Wings a few days back. He left the ice in some pain, and was on his hands and knees in the tunnel leading to the dressing room before leaving for further medical assessment.
The Jets have been off the ice the last few days as they put some time into rest and recovery. When they resumed skating today as they prepare to face the Predators this evening one player not skating was number 6.
After skate concluded we heard from Jets head coach Scott Arniel in the Matt Frost Media Centre who had this update on Miller:
“Colin Miller has a fracture of his larynx. Minimum two weeks. We’ll just see how it goes from there. Obviously got that puck in the throat, dangerous situation, but doing a lot better. He’s around, he’s here but now can’t get his again obviously.”
In his place will be Dylan Coghlan and the team did get some good news today as Dylan Samberg, who has been out since November 23rd, was practicing in a regular uniform for the first time and he is close to a return.
Connor Hellebuyck picked up his 300th career win in a 5-2 victory over the Preds.
