Winnipeg Jets head coach Scott Arniel calls injury to Dylan Samberg “freak accident”; he is being evaluated

The Jets defeated the Flames 4-2 in their fourth pre-season game of the exhibition season but it may have come at a cost as second pairing left-side defenceman Dylan Samberg left the game in the 2nd period after he got hit by Calgary’s Ryan Lomberg.

The problem was the game was not on TSN but instead being live streamed by the team and that section of the game was unavailable so we were unable to review. All we saw was the hit and then Samberg beelined for the bench and left for the dressing room.

He did not return for the 3rd period.

After the game head coach Scott Arniel was asked for an update which he did not have indicating Samberg was being checked out and they should have more information in the next day or so. When asked what he thought of the hit he called it a “freak accident”.
