Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness says Gabriel Vilardi out with enlarged spleen (no timetable for his return)

Jets head coach Rick Bowness was asked this morning after the optional morning skate if Gabriel Vilardi would be making the five-game road trip with Winnipeg when they head east tomorrow. He was already scheduled to miss tonight’s game against the Ducks which would be his eighth straight game he will miss.

Head coach Rick Bowness provided an unexpected update that Vilardi is out with an enlarged spleen that they discovered upon further testing and he didn’t have a timetable for his return. Said he is being treated and added that Vilardi is in good hands.

By way of a follow-up the bench boss was asked if there was concern this could go on for quite a while longer still?

“Time will tell.”

Tough news for the top-line winger who has been limited to 38 games of the 65 to date.
