Jets head coach Rick Bowness response to a question about Mark Scheifele starting practice on the top line but then was later on the bench during the power play drills and whether something happened during practice.
“No he just felt what was bothering him is still a little bit there it needs a little more time. Did he make it worse from practice? No. But it’s still there so we got the break coming up and prudence will tell you give him that extra time. If he needs it he needs it.”
He did confirm that Mark Scheifele will not play tomorrow against the Leafs.
This will be the sixth straight game he will be missing for Winnipeg.
The good news for the Jets and Scheifele is the team will be off until February 6th which will give him quite a bit more time to heal up and get ready for the post All-Start push to the end of the regular season.
