Today was the deadline for players to file for salary arbitration.
Winnipeg had three players do so being Gabriel Vilardi, Dylan Samberg and Morgan Barron.
This isn’t a big deal and was quite expected in fact. It’s a procedural move and the good news for the Jets is it prevents other NHL teams from trying to sign any of these players to an offer sheet.
It will also give both the players and the organization a finite date to get a new contract worked out or they’ll have to go to arbitration.
But as we saw when Andrew Copp did that process doesn’t usually end very well.
Before departing Winnipeg for St. Louis the Jets hit the ice for a skate.
