Winnipeg Jets have loaned David Gustafsson to Tingsryds AIF of the Allsvenskan for the beginning of the 2020-21 season

Another Jets prospect will begin the 2020-21 season overseas as Winnipeg announces that 2018 2nd rounder David Gustafsson will begin next season with Tingsryds AIF of the Allsvenskan according to Jets PR.

Gustafsson had quite the 2019-20 season unexpectedly making the Jets out of training camp when many expected him to return to Sweden for another year of seasoning before he transitioned to North America full time.  He would play 22 games for the Jets which included his first NHL goal, head to the World Juniors in December where he won bronze with Sweden although he was injured in that final game.  He was assigned to the Manitoba Moose where he would play 13 games before the AHL season was paused and ultimately cancelled.

With uncertainty surrounding the start of the 2020-21 season here in North America it will be beneficial for Gustafsson to play some games considering he hasn’t played a pro game since March 8th.

It was a strong season for the mature prospect who did a number of things which impressed Moose bench boss Pascal Vincent.  He also developed chemistry with Jets 2017 1st rounder Kristian Vesalainen which fans of both the Moose and Jets can look forward to watching in the future.

Here is a Q & A he did with his new club (which is in Swedish but there is a google translate option).
