Jets 2023 5th rounder Thomas Milic isn’t unfamiliar with winning awards. Last season in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds he was named WHL Goalie of the Year and would backstop his team on a championship run through the Western Hockey League.
He was drafted by Winnipeg this past June in the 5th round and signed his first pro deal with the Jets AHL affiliate during their training camp in October.
With the Moose having two established pro goalies in Oskari Salminen and Collin Delia it made sense to assign Milic to the Norfolk Admirals who are their ECHL affiliate where he could play big minutes.
Milic made his regular season pro debut during the Admirals season opener in Savannah, Georgia. He made 22 saves on 24 shots (.913 save%, 1.80 GAA) as his Admirals club forced OT late. They’d lose in a shootout.
However during the week of October 23rd to the 29th he went 2-0-0 with one shutout (some highlights here), a 1.00 GAA and a .959 save% and was named the ECHL Goalie of the Week.
He’s now 2-0-1 since turning pro with a .944 save% and a 1.29 GAA.
