Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck wins the Vezina and Hart trophy

For the first time in a decade the NHL has a winner of both the Vezina, for top goalie and Hart, for MVP as Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck was announced as the winner by the NHL this evening.

He is only the fifth goalie to accomplish this feat and the first in a decade when Carey Price accomplished it with the Montreal Canadians during the 2014-15 season. The other three netminders to win both were Jacques Plante during the 1961–62 season, Dominik Hasek who did it twice in 1996-97 and 1997-98 and Jose Theodore during the 2001–02 campaign.

It was an incredible regular season for Hellebuyck who backstopped the Jets to the first Presidents’ Trophy in franchise history. He also won his second straight William Jennings Award (least amount of goals allowed). He finished the year with 47 wins (career high) a 2.00 GAA and a .925 save%. He also had eight shutouts which was his career high.
