We’ve been seeing Ville Heinola on the ice with the Jets in a regular uniform for some time as he continued to work his way back from his ankle surgery after suffering an injury in the pre-season.
Head coach Rick Bowness had said Heinola would have been on the team had he been healthy.
Given he hasn’t played since the end of September it shouldn’t be a surprise that he will be heading to the Manitoba Moose to get back to game shape which was confirmed by Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. For some reason the Jets bench boss had been loathe to confirm this when he’d be asked during his media availabilities the last few weeks if a stint in the AHL would happen for the Finnish Dman but it isn’t really a surprise that he will be assigned to get back to the form he was in this summer.
That’s good news for the Moose as they are mired in a five-game losing streak and Heinola will play a big role on that team. Manitoba are in Laval for a pair of games starting tomorrow night.
