Winnipeg Jets forward Jeffrey Viel clears waivers; can be assigned to the Moose

The Jets continued to whittle their training camp roster down on Wednesday as the team announced in the morning that they had placed forward Jeffrey Viel on waivers for purposes of assignment to the Moose.

He has cleared waivers as per Elliotte Friedman and can join a rather full Moose training camp which currently has 34 players participating. Manitoba plays the University of Manitoba this evening in an exhibition game. I wouldn’t expect Viel to play in that game.

This move leaves 29 players in the Jets camp although as soon as Henri Nikkanen is healthy you can expect him to be assigned to the Moose as he recovers from a thumb injury.
