Notable:
After what seemed like the longest discussion amongst officials to determine if a puck went over the glass for a delay of game penalty the zebras ultimately decided it had which sent Rasmus Kupari to the sin bin. One thing about the Hawks as we mentioned is their special teams have been working and they connected to open the scoring 1-0 on the PP.
An aggressive shift by the Jets in the O-Zone as the top line retrieved the puck, then Logan Stanley put in on net and who else tipped it home…Gabriel Vilardi. His 11th made it a 1-1 game. It was also an important point as he tied Chris Thorburn on the All-Time points list. Of course he did it in 321 fewer games.
On a play that looked harmless but caused some harm to the Jets the Hawks beat Connor Hellebuyck top corner as time wound down (13 seconds left) in the opening period of play. Chicago led 2-1 after 20 minutes.
Brad Lambert came this close to his first NHL goal. Suspect 9/10 times he never misses that shot. Good chance for the Jets prospect.
After a slow start to the middle frame (shots were 3-1 for the Hawks) the Jets took over and outshot them 8-0 for the rest of the 2nd period. Most importantly for the visitors they tied the game after Nino Niederreiter finished off a heck of a shift from his line to tie the game 2-2. That was his 10th goal of the season.
Winnipeg started the 3rd the right way which eventually saw them take a 3-2 lead when Mark Scheifele tapped home a Kyle Connor shot for his 14th goal of the season.
With the net empty for the Hawks as they pushed for the game tying goal they were unable to do so as Mason Appleton got going to score his first goal in 17 games to seal the deal at 4-2.
With the win the Jets improve to 20-8-0 on the season.
