And then the bench was complete. From the Jets:
Brad Lauer and Marty Johnston have been appointed assistant coaches under head coach Rick Bowness and the pair will work alongside associate coach Scott Arniel, assistant coach, goaltending Wade Flaherty, and video & analytics coach Matt Prefontaine on the Winnipeg Jets coaching staff.
Here is what the release said about Lauer who is a new face to the organization:
Lauer, 55, served as the head coach for the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings for the past four seasons, winning the WHL Championship in 2021-22. The Humboldt, Sask. native previously served as an assistant coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning (2016-18), Anaheim Ducks (2012-15), and Ottawa Senators (2009-11). Lauer also worked as an assistant coach in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch (2011-12) and Milwaukee Admirals (2007-09) and his first coaching experience was as an assistant coach for the Kootenay Ice (2002-07).
Johnston is a familiar face for Moose fans as he has served on the bench as an assistant for the last five seasons. He isn’t unfamiliar to the Jets bench having jumped up to help last season when the NHL club’s coaching staff were not available. During his time with Manitoba he worked with the forwards and on power play.
