The Jets had a number of players to qualify today or they would become unrestricted free agents on both the Jets and Moose.
For Winnipeg:
Gabriel Vilardi ($3,437,500) (arbitration eligible)
Morgan Barron ($1,350,000) (arbitration eligible)
Rasmus Kupari* ($1,000,000) (arbitration eligible)
Dylan Samberg ($1,400,000) (arbitration eligible)
For Manitoba:
Parker Ford ($867,000)
Mason Shaw ($775,000)
Kristian Vesalainen ($894,167)(last cap hit from 2022)
Simon Lundmark (775,000) (arbitration eligible)
Isaak Phillips ($775,000) (arbitration eligible)
Tyrel Bauer ($850,000)
*Even though he signed a deal in Switzerland the Jets would qualify Rasmus Kupari to retain his rights. Same reason they would qualify Kristian Vesalainen (it’s the last season they can do it with him before the 2017 1st rounder becomes a UFA).
According to Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press they qualified all of their RFAs except for Simon Lundmark and Mason Shaw.
It’s always possible that the Jets sign these two for less than what they would have had to qualify them for.
Interestingly the PR team put out a tweet saying they qualified all (7) but Lundmark and Shaw but didn’t list Kristian Vesalainen.
He's closing in on his first game since January 13th.
The 2024 2nd rounder is in Winnipeg where he'll spend the rest of the season…
