Winnipeg Jets exclusive signing rights to former prospect Anton Johannesson have expired

As per the folks at CapFriendly the Jets had until 4 pm CDT on Saturday to sign 2020 5th rounder Anton Johannesson to a contract or their exclusive signing rights expire.

The smaller, left-shot defenceman played 28 games (0G 7A) for Brynäs IF in the second tier Hockeyallsvenskan during the 2023-24 season after they were relegated for the first time last season. They’ve been promoted back to the top tier Swedish Hockey League for the 2024-25 season which is where Johannesson is slated to play.

This doesn’t come as a big (no pun intended) surprise but the team won’t be signing him I’ve now confirmed.
