Winnipeg Jets end road trip with 4-3 OT win over Oilers getting to 100 points faster than ever before

A Kyle Connor OT winner against the Oilers you say? That sounds familiar. Winnipeg won 4-3 and becomes second team in NHL to 100 points. They also accomplished that feat (in 70 games) faster than they ever had before.

Notable:

The Jets tied the game courtesy of goal number 15 for Cole Perfetti. His former roomie Dylan Samberg picked up his 18th point of the season in his 48th game which matched his total from last season which he got in 78 games.

After an unsuccessful goalie interference challenge the Jets killed the subsequent penalty for delay of game and tied the game as they had, what Jets assistant coach Dean Chynoweth would call that a power kill, followed by Morgan Barron, who is becoming a long range passing specialist, getting it up to Nino Niederrieter who came out of the box and fed a great pass to Josh Morrissey who tied it up.

With this goal Josh Morrissey is now the Jets 2.0 All-Time points leader among defencemen moving past Dustin Byfuglien. He’s now alone in 6th on the overall list with 364 points (77G 287A).

Last time Brandon Tanev scored a goal as a member of the Winnipeg Jets was March 28th, 2019. Tonight was a good time to get his first in almost six years as he gave Winnipeg a 3-2 lead in the 3rd.

For the second time this game a poor pass by the Jets D resulted in a turnover and the visitors got burnt by it as Zach Hyman tied the game with under five remaining in the 3rd.

Kyle Connor was the OT hero (not the first time he’s done that against the Oilers) with his 59th game-winning goal.
