Winnipeg Jets draft pick Dmitry Rashevsky remains in KHL with Avangard Omsk

The words in late May from Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff when it came to his 2021 5th rounder Dmitry Rashevsky was “wait and see” as his KHL contract with Dynamo was set to expire and the 24-year old would be in need of a new one, either in the KHL or over in North America.

This was a player who, right after Winnipeg drafted him, there was talk he would come to Manitoba and start his career in the AHL with the Moose. Instead he remained in Russia where he signed a few deals with Dynamo where he put up 91G and 83A for 174 points in 302 regular season and playoff games.

There was some buzz from those who follow the KHL (specifically Hockey News Hub) in early June that Rashevsky had signed an offer sheet with Avangard Omsk.

On Thursday Rashevsky took to Avangard’s insta account to welcome their fans to a garden party the team was holding today.

Today, Dynamo Moscow confirmed that Rashevsky was leaving for monetary compensation.

Hockey Hub News is reporting it is a two-year deal that is set to expire on May 31st, 2027 when Rashevsky is 26 years old.
