Winnipeg Jets Dominic Toninato and assistant coach Charlie Huddy placed into NHL’s COVID-19 protocols

Ahead of morning skate here in Winnipeg the Jets announced they have had forward Dominic Toninato and assistant coach Charlie Huddy placed into Covid protocol.

Obviously this means they won’t be available for the games this week including tonight against the Panthers and Thursday against the Canucks.

Update:

As per Murat Ates of The Athletic Winnipeg there was an update following morning skate in Winnipeg on Toninato.

“Jets staff just updated us. Dominic Toninato had a false positive and if he tests negative today, he may exit protocol and play tonight.”

So that will bear watching this afternoon and ahead of warm up skate.

Update II:

As per Sara Orlesky of TSN here is the news regarding the follow-up testing:

“Toninato’s test today did come back positive so he will remain in COVID-19 protocol.”

Which means that Evgeny Svechnikov will remain in the lineup tonight against the Panthers.
