This game was a measuring stick game against a tough Central Division opponent. And they played a near perfect contest to win 4-1 which improves them to 14-1-0 on the season as they become the first team in NHL history to get 14 wins in their first 15 games. They stand alone.

Notable:
The day began with the sad news that Ted Wyman, sports editor of the Winnipeg Sun had lost his battle with cancer. We always enjoyed our time when Ted would join us on the show. The Jets paid tribute to Ted during the 1st period which you can watch here.
This game was all about response. Would the Jets be able to do what they did to Detroit after a tough game they didn’t like against Toronto. Following their 1-0 win over Colorado that they didn’t love, they sure looked like a team that got their own memo.
With the Jets having the best power play in the NHL and the Stars having the 4th best penalty kill it was going to be interesting to see which squad got the edge in today’s contest.
In the 1st period the second power play unit got things going when Alex Iafallo buried a Vlad Nasmetnikov pass to make it a 1-0 game with his second goal of the season.
Less than three minutes later Rasmus Kupari also got his second of the year as the Jets took advantage of a Stars turnover in their D zone.
Folks wanted a response to a less than stellar win over the Avs. They certainly got it to start this hockey game. Jets led the Stars 2-0 with a 12-4 shot edge. Fans give them a big cheer as they left for the room during the 1st intermission.
Early in the middle frame Vlad Namestnikov showed why you play till you hear the whistle as he made it 3-0.
You could see Jamie Benn was going to do something. He took a penalty for roughing against Rasmus Kupari which allowed Nikolaj Ehlers and the first PP unit to also score. That’s Ehlers ninth goal of the season. It also gives Mark Scheifele assists in seven straight games.
Jets fans were feeling good and they rained “U.S backup” chants down on Jake Oettinger after the 4-0 goal (on 15 shots).
After Oettinger was pulled for Casey DeSmith fans then started chanting “We want Oettinger” after the backup made a number of quality saves.
The shutout streak ends at 1:91:47 for Connor Hellebuyck as Hintz broke it late in the 3rd.
