As noted by Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press a couple of players were missing from today’s noon skate at Jets training camp including Kyle Connor and Gabe Vilardi. Additionally he indicated that Nate Schmidt was skating with the main group in yellow, non-contact jersey.
It was also noted by Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun that Declan Chisholm left practice early.
Following the conclusion of skate Jets head coach was asked for an update on these missing players as well as 2022 2nd rounder Elias Salomonsson who left the game last night against the Senators and did not return.
The coach’s updates via Scott Billeck are as follows:
Gabriel Vilardi and Kyle Connor are sick.
Elias Salomonsson has a upper body injury. Neck.
Declan Chisholm has a lower body injury that is from last night and flared up today.
Hope is that Nate Schmidt can get out of the yellow jersey tomorrow.
We shall have to wait and see what Sunday brings. Of course these guys being out gives opportunity to other players who are looking for a greater share of the spotlight.
