Winnipeg Jets coach Scott Arniel confirms prospect Kieron Walton suffered a concussion during Prospect Showdown

After having a monster season last year in the OHL with Sudbury lots of folks were excited to see what Jets prospect Kieron Walton (2024 6th) would look like after a summer of training. He played in the Prospect Showdown this past weekend in Montreal which turned into a family affair as his twin brother Conor, who is an undrafted defenceman playing for Windsor, was added to the mix as an invitee.

As you can see in this clip Walton was hit hard in the game against the Habs prospects on Saturday night and would not return to the game.

He also didn’t play the next day when the Jets prospects took on the Senators prospects.

When the Jets announced the three groups for day 1 of training camp his name wasn’t listed which clearly indicated he was dealing with something. Following skate today on Day 1 of training camp we got an update from head coach Scott Arniel who indicated Walton had suffered a concussion.

“He’s concussed. He’s in protocol here. Probably the next seven days.”

Tough news for the exciting Jets prospect.
