The Jets picked up a big 4-3 win last night which arrested their losing streak at six games although they did lose Nino Niederreiter with just under 12 minutes left in the 3rd period after a faceoff where it appeared he was cut.
It was an unfortunate circumstance as Adam Lowry got tossed and then Nino Niederreiter stepped in to take it. From the video it appears that Kings forward Adrian Kempe‘s skate clips him. If you didn’t see it here is what happened:
After the game in the Matt Frost Media Centre, Jets head coach Rick Bowness was asked for an update:
“He required some stitches in his leg.”
Asked if he thinks Niederreiter will be available for the game on Thursday against the Flames Bowness added:
“We’ll know more after tomorrow and Wednesday. We’ll see.”
If he isn’t and Tyler Toffoli, who missed the game last night as he was under the weather, is feeling better you wonder if they may leave that 2nd line with Cole Perfetti intact and put Toffoli on the 3rd line with Adam Lowry and Mason Appleton. Perfetti, after sitting the last couple of games as a healthy scratch, had two goals and one assist while his linemates Kyle Connor (3A) and Sean Monahan (1G) also had success.
We will have to wait till tomorrow as the Jets cancelled practice today. They are set to skate at 11 AM CDT on Wednesday so check back for the Practice Report.
