Winnipeg Jets coach indicates that Gabriel Vilardi has a sprained MCL

Things were going well for the home team in the first period of the game last night until Gabe Vilardi got tied up with his former teammate and went down awkwardly.

You could see he was in considerable pain although he did get up and skate to the bench on his own without putting much weight on his right leg. He would be helped to the Jets dressing room and after the game Jets head coach Rick Bowness indicated Vilardi would be re-evaluated in the morning.

Today following practice the bench boss of Winnipeg was asked for an update on the status of his top line winger. He indicated Vilardi has a sprained MCL and they expect the recovery to be 4-6 weeks.

He added that no operation is needed. He will receive daily treatment.
