Winnipeg Jets clinch 1st round home ice advantage for 2017-18 playoffs

Last night the Jets beat the Leafs 3-1 in Toronto to improve their record to 48-20-10 on the season.  When you combine that win with the loss the Wild suffered in Dallas ensured that the Jets have clinched home ice advantage in the first round of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In 2015 the Jets had to scratch and claw their way into the post-season as an 8th seed which earned them a date with the Ducks and a series that began in Anaheim.  While they were ultimately swept in four games the Whiteouts in games 3 and 4 were nostalgia steroids for the city of Winnipeg, Province of Manitoba and fans of the Jets living elsewhere.

As a result of clinching the home ice advantage in the opening round of the 2017-18 playoffs it will mean games 1 and 2 will be in the not so friendly confines of Bell MTS Place.  When you consider that the Jets are the only home team to date that has 30 wins you see what an advantage it will be for this team to start their first round series at home.

We don’t know the dates yet but that should become clearer in the next week.
