Just 34 seconds into overtime during Sunday’s preseason game between the Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild, prospect Brad Lambert rushed the puck from between the circles in the Winnipeg end all the way towards the Minnesota net as he split the D but got tripped up and fell hard into the goalpost.
Lambert was initially a bit slow to get up and upon watching the replay you can see his face hit the ice before his body made contact with the net. On the broadcast they said he was going 35 MPH during the rush.

The Jets would go on a power play as a result of the play which Lambert started and was on the ice for the first 28 seconds of it. At the next faceoff with 57 seconds left in the power play Lambert headed out on the ice but the refs went to the bench to talk to Scott Arniel and the Finnish prospect headed down the tunnel.
After the game head coach Scott Arniel indicated that Lambert was pulled by the concussion spotter.
“Yeah that came from New York. First exhibition game.”
When asked if it was due to the hit by Johnson or the result of going into the net, Arniel confirmed it was when Lambert hit the net.
“No that was into the net. He stayed on his hands and knees a little bit too long I guess. I just got told and I have to do it, he has to come out. And I don’t know yet anything on him. We’ll know in the next day or so.”
The Jets are off today so we will likely get an update on Tuesday when training camp resumes.
The date and opponent is now set.
