Blake Wheeler is entering his eighth season in professional hockey and so far the start to the 2015-16 campaign is his best to date. The alternate captain for the Jets has registered a point in each of the six games his Winnipeg team has played in so far to start this season.
Of course when he first broke into the league with the Bruins his role was significantly different than it currently is with the Jets. Back in his first season (2008-2009) he averaged about 11 minutes on ice in those first six games with Boston whereas he has averaged about 19 minutes here in Winnipeg in these first six games.
A look at his point production in the first six games of each season he has played in the NHL:
2015-16: 6 GP 3 G 5 A 8 P (Jets)
2014-15: 6 GP 2 G 2 A 4 P (Jets)
2013-14: 6 GP 1 G 2 A 3 P (Jets)
2012-13: 6 GP 3 G 3 A 6 P (Jets)
2011-12: 6 GP 0 G 1 A 1 P (Jets)
2010-11: 6 GP 0 G 2 A 2 P (Bruins/Thrashers)
2009-10: 6 GP 2 G 1 A 3 P (Bruins)
2008-09: 6 GP 1 G 1 A 1 P (Bruins)
While Wheeler is not the type of player who will speak about individual records, it will be interesting to see how far he can take this current streak.
