Winnipeg Jets reassign Sami Niku to the Manitoba Moose

The Moose had assigned two players to Jacksonville this morning and were down to eight defenceman on the roster ahead of their home opener tonight against the Marlies but that number is now nine as the Jets announced they have reassigned Sami Niku to the AHL squad.

I guess if the alternative is sitting in the press box rather than playing big minutes with Manitoba it is a vastly preferable option.

It could also mean that Bryan Little is ready to come off IR which would have required the Jets to make a roster move.
