The Jets have continued to whittle down their training camp roster cutting it down by 18 players over this past weekend and then making further reductions this week. Yesterday they placed Jeffrey Viel on waivers which got them down to 29 players left at main camp. We learned today that Viel cleared so he can be assigned to the Moose.
The big news of the day was the assignment of prospect Dman Elias Salomonsson (2022 2nd) to his Swedish club Skelleftea where he is expected to have a big role this season. Of course that didn’t reduce the training camp roster as he had already been assigned to the Moose earlier this week.
Winnipeg also announced that Henri Nikkanen would be heading to the Moose now that the defensive forward is healed up after dealing with a thumb issue for most of Jets training camp.
