Winnipeg Jets assign Adam Lowry to the Manitoba Moose

It caused some consternation on twitter when the Jets announced they have assigned Adam Lowry to their AHL club.  The Moose confirmed that he will play tonight so big #17 will get some immediate work in the AHL.  Good chance to get some minutes and confidence playing the next couple of days.

The big question is whether Lowry will end up playing tomorrow night as well.  If he does how would that impact him being called back up for the game against the Rangers on Friday at the MTS Centre.  It is also possible that he plays Thursday night and then doesn’t get the call back up until the games next week in Alberta.  Plenty of intrigue on a snowy day in Winnipeg.

Update:  Via Paul Wiecek of the Winnipeg Free Press:  “Paul Maurice says Lowry will be with the Moose for at least a few games and is unlikely to be recalled for Rangers game on Friday.”

Coach Maurice on why Lowry heads to the Moose “Play some hockey games.  They have a couple this week, couple more next week, not sure how many of those he will end up playing.  Needs to get into a higher rep, touch more pucks, get his feet moving, get his game back.”  When asked if this was to be seen as a long term move “Don’t know yet.  Want to get him to a place down there that he is feeling good about his game.”

The Moose have confirmed that he will wear #47 with Manitoba.

The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club, in conjunction with its AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, announced today they have assigned forward Adam Lowry to the Moose.

Lowry, 22, has played 31 games with the Jets this season registering eight points (1G, 7A) along with 22 penalty minutes. Last season, Lowry played 80 games with the Jets totaling 23 points (11G, 12A). Lowry has 34 points (17G, 17A) in 75 AHL games with St. John’s from 2012-14. He was drafted by Winnipeg in the third round, 67th overall at the 2011 NHL Draft.
