Winnipeg Jets Afternoon News (Thursday, Dec 15th)

Globe and Mail:  Keeping an eye on the standings.  All the players spoke about this today and it makes sense as the team has climbed within 1 point of the 8th spot in the East.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets aim for playoffs. With the level of success this team has had at home it is hard not to think playoffs.  Couple that with knocking off big guns like the Bruins and Wild and fans are already thinking of what the post season will be like for the Jets.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Enstrom may return to Jets lineup for Saturday.  The rotating lineup continues as new face on the Jets Miettinen won’t be available.  Good news is Enstrom had another full practice today and looked solid.  The negative with all this health on backend is the team is going to have to make a tough decision on what to do with Mark Flood, who has been rock solid for the team since his call-up.   Coach Noel admitted during the press conference today that his play has been above the level of others on this team.

TSN:  Jets, Capitals meet for third time this season.  Munz has today’s expected lineups for both the Jets and Capitals.

ESPN:  Selanne love-fest in Winnipeg still strong.  Someone needs to bring a DB meter to the game, because the sound inside the MTS Centre, which is already deafening, is going to reach new levels when Teemu Selanne takes to the ice.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets’ recycling program takes off.   Another good idea on getting this province to recycle more.

Washington Post:  Strong start important for Capitals in Winnipeg.  The MTS Centre is not a place the visiting team wants to fall behind in.

Washington Post:  Michael Neuvirth to make second start against Jets.   It will be a battle of Czech netminders tonight.

Washington Times:  Is Braden Holtby next in line for Capitals.  Much like the Wings did with Jimmy Howard in Grand Rapids, the Caps have left Holtby down in Hershey to continue to season.  Last season he had a stellar 14 games for Washington but he has struggled in the AHL this season.
