Winnipeg Free Press: Jets fans descend on Glendale. I’m regretting not jumping on a plane to take in this game as I think the atmosphere at Jobing.com arena is going to be spectacular. Hopefully both Jets and Coyotes fans keep it civil.
TSN: Coyotes welcome new Jets for home opener. They have good reason to welcome all the Jets fans to Glendale. Peggers’ are buying up extra tickets and spending money in Westgate, which can only help the area hit hard by the downturn in the U.S. economy.
Winnipeg Sun: Slater keeping stars in check. Checking and scoring, things the Jets are sorely lacking.
CBC: Winless Jets aim for complete effort. Fans aren’t expecting this team to win every game but they won’t be happy to simply sit by and watch players put in effort for 1/2 a game. If the players put forth a complete 60 minute game, fans will be encouraged, regardless of outcome.
AHL IceCaps News:
The Telegram: Patrice Cormier eager to prove he’s ready to play at the NHL level. From what he is saying his attitude seems to be in the right place. If his hard work ethic continues in the AHL he could be getting called up by the Jets before he knows it.
The Telegram: Danny Williams and Glenn Stanford combined their talents to build IceCaps. The benefit to the IceCaps is that Chipman won’t be the type of owner who disregards his AHL team. It seems he will be just as determined to see the AHL product succeed and win the Calder Cup, something he wasn’t able to accomplish with the Moose.
