Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  With no new players, Winnipeg Jets coach has to work with what he has.  The Jets coach knows there is no point lamenting his lot in life.  He will win or lose with the players he has on his roster.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Kane could be in for Leafs game.  Well ‘game time decision’ is a lot better than ‘he won’t be a player this week’.  The Jets need offence wherever it can be found so hopefully his time away has healed his body and he will be prepared to break both his own and the Jets goal scoring drought.

Winnipeg Sun:  Kane, Stapleton game-time decisions for Jets.  Stapleton can play point on the PP and adds some speed to whichever line he is playing on.  The most important thing is his presence will hopefully get the players currently on the roster looking over their shoulders at a guy who wants back into the lineup.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Claude Noel press conference.  Coach Noel held a 10 minute press conference to catch-up with ‘his beauties’ as he references the media.  Covered a range of topics including injury updates, current player struggles and much more.

Affiliate news – St. John’s IceCaps:

Northern Colorado:  Forney recalled by IceCaps.  Will be making his first call up by the Caps this season.

Next opponent news – Toronto Maple Leafs:

Toronto Star:  Five questions for the Leafs before the game with the Oilers.  We will know the answers following the game of course.  Will be interesting to see if Morweena, Manitoba’s James Reimer gets the start and a 2nd chance to win in Winnipeg.

Globe and Mail:  Which rebuild is better – Leafs or Oilers?   An 8th place team with 60 points vs. a 13th place team with 47 points.  It would seem that this question is best answered next season.
