Note:  Reminder that the Illegal Curve Hockey Show returns to our normal start time of noon on Saturday as we kick off your Jets game day coverage on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.  Plenty to discuss including the elimination from the playoffs, a look ahead to the game with the Leafs and much more so join us for three hours of hockey talk.  Guests:  Marty Biron (Retired NHL goalie, Analyst with TSN-RDS-MSG).

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets frustrated after being eliminated from playoffs.  This is not a team with a ton of playoff experience and they really could use the opportunity to get their noses bloody with some tough playoff hockey.  Alas for the team and the fans that dream will have to wait for the 2014/15 season.

Winnipeg Sun:  Maurice bruised, battered by Jets loss.  If you listen to coach Maurice you really get the sense that he relishes the opportunity to build something in Winnipeg.  While he is clearly disappointed that he wasn’t able to get this team into the playoffs you had a sense that his vision is for something much more long term.

CBC:  Fans stand by Winnipeg Jets despite missing playoffs – again.  Lots of faith/optimism remains in the organization as fans came to grips with another missed opportunity at the post-season.

Sportsnet:  Maurice’s future in air as Jets seek answers.  Once the season ends he will discuss it with his family but if I was a betting man (which I’m not) I would guess that he will take advantage of the opportunity he has here in Winnipeg.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The Rona Roundtable (audio).  TSN 1290 Hockey Analyst JP Vigier discusses how the Jets will approach the final four games of the regular season.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The Big Show (audio).  Dennis Beyak joins the guys to discuss whether a third non-playoff may lead to big change.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice audio from IcePlex (audio).   Thoughts this morning when he woke up.  Have the players bought in to his system?  Should this team have made the playoffs in Year 3?  Is getting team to next level the kind of challenge that appeals to him?  Do you need personnel change to move team forward?  Has Trouba hit a bit of a college wall?

Illegal Curve:  Bill Masterton nominee is Olli Jokinen.  The award is given to a “player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey” and the Winnipeg chapter of the PHWA felt he was a worthwhile nominee.  What do you think?

Illegal Curve:  Morning PapersIf you missed any of the news this AM we have you covered.
