Winnipeg Free Press: Two thumbs up…way up. Reporter Ed Tait gives his opinion on a subject that has the internet chatting, the new Jets logo.
Jets Nation: Alex Burmistrov interview. Excellent interview with the young Jet. I especially enjoyed these questions/answers:
– Do you know that Winnipeg is the coldest city on the planet with population over 0.5 million?
I heard it was cold out there. But is it really colder than in Novosibirsk?
– It’s commonly referred to as “Winterpeg” for a reason.
Really? Well, ok. In my hometown, Kazan, it gets pretty cold too. So I’m not afraid. Besides, I can always buy a down-padded coat (laughter).
Global Winnipeg: Jets gear nets $200k in sales. Just imagine if True North had jerseys and all other sorts of merchandise to sell.
Around the NHL:
TSN: Draper to announce retirement in Detroit on Tuesday. The $1 man following his trade from Winnipeg to Detroit over 2 decades ago, he carved himself quite the niche in Detroit. Was a great mentor to St. Andrew’s, Manitoba’s Darren Helm, who plays a similar style of game.
More after the jump including NHL goalies getting no respect, Top 25 Centres in the NHL and a video of Wild head coach Mike Yeo talking Minnesota hockey.
USA Today: NHL goalies net less pay than forwards, defencemen. Apparently goalies are the Rodney Dangerfield of the NHL, “they don’t get no respect”.
Yahoo (Puck Daddy): Ranking the Top 25 Centres. Doesn’t look like very good news for the Winnipeg Jets who failed to have 1 player crack this list.
5 Eyewitness News (Video): Wild Coach Mike Yeo:
