Winnipeg Jets Adam Lowry to wear number 17

Adam Lowry, the Jets third round pick in 2011, found out today that he was making the team.  Jets PR announced that he would be using the number 17.  Fans had previously seen him wearing the #56.

Perhaps he chose the number based on the 17 goals he scored in the AHL last season.  I’m sure we will hear soon enough why he chose those digits.

Update (October 9th):  He told the media in Glendale during the pre-game scrum that he chose 17 as that was the number he got when he joined the Swift Current Broncos. “I wore it my four years as a Bronco and that number brought me a lot of good fortune so I decided to go back to my old junior number”.
